  Jaqualine Chapman has always loved writing and would often write stories for her two children and for her primary school pupils. A few years ago she traded her teacher’s table for a student’s desk and enrolled in the Creative Writing Course at Whitireia Polytech. It was there that she honed her writing skills. The experiences from her teaching days proved very handy for writing Top Secret… Pass it On!

  Nowadays Jaqualine is enjoying being back behind the teacher’s table and also continuing her writing.

  About the Illustrator

  As a child growing up in Whakatane, Rebecca Cundy spent hours copying pictures out of comic books – and this was how she learnt to draw.

  Rebecca went on to study graphic design, and then spent many years working as a freelance designer. Always harbouring a desire to illustrate a children’s book, she got her first chance in 2006, illustrating Ngā Kōrero o Hauraki E Moko e… for the Hauraki Māori Trust Board. In 2008 Rebecca illustrated the first book in the Ozzie Kingsford series by Val Bird, and as of June 2009 has completed three more in the series.

  There’s only one thing Rebecca loves more than drawing (apart from her husband, and two charming daughters) – and that’s a good laugh. Rebecca’s delightful sense of humour shines through in her illustrations.
